Privacy policy

This site is a personal portfolio run by Ismail Oyeleke from Lagos, Nigeria. This policy explains what it collects, why, and what you can ask me to do about it. It is written against the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and I apply the same standard to visitors in the United Kingdom and the European Union under the UK GDPR and the GDPR.
Who is responsible
I am the data controller for this site. You can reach me at ismailoyeleke2003@gmail.com or on +234 903 866 6601. My postal location is Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria; a full address is available on request for any formal data request.
What the site collects
- Nothing by default. Visiting a page sets no cookie and stores nothing about you until you choose otherwise.
- Contact form. If you send a message, I receive the name, email address, organisation and message you typed, plus the topic you selected. This is delivered to my email inbox through Web3Forms, which processes it on my behalf and does not use it for its own purposes. The lawful basis is your consent, given by sending the message, and my legitimate interest in replying to enquiries.
- Analytics, only if you accept. If you press Accept on the cookie banner, the site loads Google Analytics, which sets cookies to count visits and tell me which pages are read. IP addresses are anonymised. The lawful basis is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer.
- Hosting logs. The site is served from Amazon Web Services. Standard access logs, including IP address and user agent, may be recorded for security and reliability. The lawful basis is my legitimate interest in keeping the site running and secure.
Cookies and local storage
- One entry in your browser's local storage records whether you accepted or declined analytics, so you are not asked on every page. It contains no personal data.
- If you accept, Google Analytics sets its own cookies. Declining sets none, and the analytics script is never loaded.
- Pressing play on an embedded video loads it from youtube-nocookie.com, at which point YouTube may set cookies. Nothing is requested from YouTube until you press play.
Who else processes your data
- Amazon Web Services, for hosting and content delivery.
- Web3Forms, for delivering contact form messages to my inbox.
- Google, for analytics, only after you accept.
- Google, for Gmail, which holds the email I receive from you.
Some of these providers are outside Nigeria, so your data may be transferred internationally. They operate under standard contractual clauses and their own published safeguards.
How long anything is kept
- Contact messages stay in my email for as long as the conversation is relevant, and no longer than three years.
- Analytics data is retained for 14 months and then deleted automatically.
- Your cookie choice stays in your browser until you clear it or change it.
Your rights
You can ask me to show you what I hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict what I do with it, or send you a copy. You can object to processing based on legitimate interest, and withdraw consent for analytics whenever you like. Email ismailoyeleke2003@gmail.com and I will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, or to your own data protection authority if you are in the UK or the EU.
Children
This site is aimed at recruiters, employers and clients. It is not intended for children, and I do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS only. It is a static site, so there is no database and no account to compromise. Messages reach me through an encrypted connection.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page.
